EDIT: I can go to the dealership, that isn't a problem

ahhh i misread the eBay title.

it's just a key switchblade, no remote whatsoever. hahhahaa

I bought a remote for my LX (1999) from eBay and I was wondering if there was a switchblade i could where i could get the key cut and just program the remote to my car?

I remember seeing a switchblade/remote on eBay. Let me find a picture.

That's strange. The two hardware stores in my area both carry and cut Honda keys. I guess it just depends where you go. I will add though that my dealership-cut key is way operationally smoother and finer cut than any I have ever gotten from a hardware store.

Took me a little while to figure out what they were doing. That's an 03 Si, they were taking the chip out of the key to put it in the switchblade key fob because that year Civic has an immobilizer and a special chip in the key that allows the car to start.

You don't have to worry about that with your car, you don't have an immobilizer and a chip in the key.

All you have is the keyless entry remote, and the new key fob will just need to be programmed and you'll have to have the key cut. No swapping chips or anything.

Steps on this page in this picture is how you program the key fob. Your instructions may vary from these (different generation Civic), but I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same process.

I wonder if it's possible to program one of these to my Viper keyless entry.

Guess what! I found the perfect key! It has the same blade (I believe) as my 99! The programming should be the same, considering I have the same remote... should I go for it?
