Civic key fob doesn't work when engine is running
Have a 2004 Civic with power door locks. A couple of years ago I had the key fob replaced by Honda. The doors lock and unlock with the key fob as normal until you start the car. For some reason when the car is running you can not lock or unlock the doors with either the key fob or the lock switch on the door. As soon as I take the key out of the ignition the locks work again. I called the dealer and they couldn't expalin why this would happen. Anyone had this happen to them? Any ideas?

With the key in the ignition...
It's a security precaution to disable the fob door un/lock features.
If the fob was lost, and you had a child in the backseat,
the person who finds the fob could unlock the doors at the wrong moment.
As far as the inside door switch not able to un/lock the doors when the key is in the ignition, that doesn't make much sense and sounds like an issue.
But you might check the manual and see if it's a child-proof feature of some sort.
Doesn't say for which year, but this is for programming the door locks
