Thinking of Buying a 2000 Civic SI
Well, my old car (91 Geo Prizm) just crapped out on me, so I decided to look for another car. I'm right now working and going to school (a 30 min drive) so I do kinda need an affordable ride. I found a 2000 Civic SI for $7500, but it has been modded and judging by half the kids in this town, it's prolly been ran to hell and back. Is there anything specific I should be looking for to see problem signs?
What about as far as reliability and resale?
Thanks (oh and first post )

Check if there is any leak. Check the engine oil, make sure you don't see coolant mix with the engine oil because I've seen a lot of modified 6th gen Si with a cracked head gasket that are for sale.
See if there is any bluish smoke coming out from the exhaust just to make sure the piston rings aren't worn out. Check around the top of clutch pedal, touch it & make sure it's dry because if it's greasy, there is a chance that the clutch master cylinder is leaking.
For the 6th gen Si, test drive the car & try to hear any grinding noise from the gearbox because I believe it is very common for the 6th gen Si either the 2nd or 5th gear to grind.
If the car is well taken care, even if it's modified, the car will still be good. Honda engines are long lasting & reliable even if you redline it from time to time. I mean, who is actually buying a Civic Si & not redlining the engine at least once huh? hehe... The B16 engine sounds really sweet at high RPM especially once the VTEC engange.

I've heard of the bluish smoke thing, but the other two are new. Those are the kind of things I'm looking for lol.
And the milage is like 73K. The ad says exhaust I believe, which is what worries me. Why go through the trouble of modding your car if you're only gonna add exhaust. Ya know?
