Default RE: unregister car

Here in California it could mean several different things. It basically means the new owner will start the registration process from scratch and a new title will have to be applied for.
1. The car was reposessed and bought at an auction. The registration process has to start over with an application for a new title.
2. The car had been stolen and found with numbers altered.
3. The car had been sitting unregistered (for more than I believe 5 years in California) where the registration information is dropped from the DMV computers.

In this world today it could be a lot of things.

I myself would not buy a vehicle without the correct paperwork. It just isn't worth the hassle.

A motorcycle was given to me and had not been registered since it was sold30 years ago and the registration process was a nightmare.
