I just put in some 10w30 today. Looks like the teggy needs a head gasket though, there is a small leak coming from inbetween the head and the block. My friend said its a pretty straight forward job. I'lll do some research and see if I'm up to it.

ORIGINAL: morepower

I have jacks and ramps to lift the car but it's dangerous, i would rather pull it up on a curb and crawl under it, this is the first car that i could not reach the filter without jacking it sucks.
5-20 is very light oil and should change every 5k per manual. I use Dino oil penzoil jiffy lube puts the same 5-20 it all turns black because of the detergent additives. synthetic is better but not worth it unless you change it every 10k and that would look like espresso because of the detergent. Does anybody know of an oil filter relocation mod
I dunno about ramps, but i know that jacks are not unsafe at all. In my auto class we have lifts but if they are all used we do the oil changes on the floor with jack stands. I've only seen one car fall of a jack, but the car wasn't jacked up properly. I've never had a car fall off a jack on my, and i've put breaker bars on bolts and stood on the breaker bar. No problem at all (except the bolt didn't come loose). I have a 3 ton jack and jack stands, i've never had a problem and i don't think i ever will. I've done more than oil changes as well.

Hey Morepower.

I know Greddy makes an oil filter relocation kit. I think it's around $128.00 and uses a 1985 Toyota Corolla GTS 1.6L oil filter. I've seen a couple civics done this way with a dual filter set-up where the stock battery sits. Dual filter set-ups with magnetic drain plug should keep your oil cleaner than drinking water in some cities[:'(]

Greddy part number for '92-'00 Civic is 12053005.

There are probably other manufacturers that make these but Greddy is Goood.
