im sure this is a common question but im looking to trade my jeep for this 1990 civic and i want a vtec motor in it....what should i get??? this car has a lot of visual upgrades but it looks like it has the stock motor...which im sure is a turn...i want to be able to keep up with my buddies crx with a motor swap so.... let me know!

my big question is...what will drop in? any motor from 92-up? because the only motor i see that has 88-91 is the b16a is that the only motor that will work?

it still doesent say what will fit...it says what years the motors com out of...but i want to know what will fit this car if i get it...the b16 sounds like its the most popular motor for my civic but i want the most power i can get for the money

 

I hate suggesting this engine but the best swap for the money is a B16A1 as you can get them for like $1200 or so.

yeah...like marty said...the b16a1 is the easist swap for a ef.....it caomes out of the SIR version of the same car so with some new axels, shift linkage, and mounts...and some other stuff you will be good to go.


and the site i recomeded, all those engines will fit in an ef (88-91 civic). That site tells all the basic problems you will have with each engine and what special things you would have to do....if you spend the time to read the whole page you will have a pretty good idea what you wanna do with your civic.

 

Ive heard of guys puttin in a H22 in the early 90's an makin big all motor power, that might be somethin u could look into, kinda rare an a head turner.
