I stick with Pennzoil...always been good to me. Friends use Royal Purple tho...really good stuff. I might switch but prolly not cause of the lower price of Pennzoil

i've been using mobil 1 synthetic but i cant afford it no more. thats why i created this thread so i can see whats popular on this forum. although walmart has the 5 gallon jug of mobil 1 synthetic for about $25. but the thing is i can buy 5 gallons of regular oil for about $10-$15. i might switch back to regular oil for good

^You don't need to be changing your synthetic oil nearly as often as conventional oil. The Mobil 1 extended performance oil lasts even longer (bottle claims 15k miles) and although I don't run it that long it's still a good deal.

If you can buy regular oil for $15, and synthetic for $25-30, and the synthetic lasts twice as long and is better oil, why not get the synthetic?

I wouldn't change it.

Synthetic oil is much, much more resistant to breaking down. I am pretty sure that it is also less affected by age just as with mileage.

I don't think i've ever even had to change the oil in my car because it was getting too old, I always ended up changing it for other reasons (i.e. when doing an oil pan gasket).

i've heard somewhere where you should change your oil at a certain mileage or 6 months. i guess i should just wait till i hit 7500 miles even if its 2 years old oil?

Well, with conventional oil the myth is 3000 miles or 3 months... which you really could go 5000 miles/6 months.

Personally, I would change synthetic every 7500-10000 miles or 12 months, and that's still probably more often than it needs.

ok i guess i will change the oil at 7500 or 12 months. i went to the dealers and got the oil filter thinking of changing the oil over the weekend. guess i should just check that dip stick to make sure all is good. and i've been wanting to get the passwordjdm magnetic drain plug, maybe i will get them for the next oil change
