Default wheel noise

My 02 Civic makes a funny noise from front wheel area when I turn. Driving straight reveals no noise. Any ideas? If so DIY?

I have a 98 civic and it does the same thing too, only when I make right turns tho. Does it have a sound like scrapeing metal in spurts?

I think the rotor might be a little warped and it's the sound of the pad scrapeing it but I dunno either?

Please describe the noise. If you hear a clunking noise, the CV axle may be bad.

Don't mean to thread jack...

What would it be if it was a scrapeing metal sound that came in spurts? Happens when only making right turns to my front drivers side wheel?

sorry if i'm jacking your thread, but is your name by chance eddie or edmon?

and to help diagnose the problem, jack up the front of the car, and wiggle the front wheels to check for any excess movement. then check your axles for movement side to side, then apply the brakes and check for movement. check also for loose plastic from the fender liners or under the front of the vehicle. and check for rubbing marks in the front of the fender liners for signs of scraping when you turn sharply.

Live_4it: My first thought is a problem with the brakes, as you mentioned above, though it doesn't fit too well with hearing the noise only when turning. Could also be a wheel bearing. Put the front end on stands -- check for excess free play in the wheel (bearing). Next, pull off the wheel and inspect the brakes, axle, suspension components, and the tie rod.

Check the rotor backing plates (splash shields) too; you might have to bend them back farther away from the rotors. My Prelude and Civic did this too. I only would notice it when pulling into a parking space.
