here are your pics nikehead. as of now the new motor is sitting in the car, with 2 motor mounts connected, still need to put the back motor mount, and bolt on the motor mount to the tranny. replace the ecu, mtf fluid flush/refill with honda mtf, and all other fluids are going to be changed also. i actually got a free 1.6 dizzy and 1.6 wires+plugs. i had to replace the wheel bearing. car will be done tomorrow. hopefully everything works and theres no surprises. here are some pics. and can anyone tell me how many quarts of mtf fills a ex/si 5speed tranny. thanks
old motor out and on the floor and stripped for parts i needed for the new motor: Attachment 14641 now this is what i call a clean tucked engine bay. im so good i tucked the engine/tranny themselves. lol Attachment 14642 Attachment 14643 more pics of the finished product tomorrow. |
it wouldnt be a honda, if things went smoothly. so i put the motor in, and the thing fires right up. but has horrible idle issues. why? maybe because it was leaking coolant out of the corner of the intake manifold, since the intake manifold was broke. the whole corner broke off. but of course thats not it, the person who ever had the motor before me, did not know how to run the coolant hoses. for some reason he had a coolant hose block off with a screw, and the screw was preventing the coolant from circulating all the way through. so we fixed the coolant problem. but no, im not done yet. went for a test drive, was in 1st gear, heard something pop, and the car will not get in gear. so now i have to finish it up tomorrow. ahhh this motor swap became a pain in the arse. and now my battery light is on(just going to switch alternators, hopefully that will fix the light). i did check the battery to see if the alternator was charging it and it was. and my CEL light is on. and i cant check it. when i turn the key to the II position, the cel lights goes away. but asoon as i turn the car on, the cel light comes on. Hopefully it has to do with the alternator also. havent wired in vtec yet. will be doing that asoon as everything else work fine.

could the cel be because your fuel pump isn't keeping up? on my car when i turn the key the cel is on till it has enough fuel pressure then it goes off but when i start mine it is fine. just a thought im no pro...
