MT Civic Project
Not sure who did the swap as I bought it like this so I figure the guy I bought it from did. I thought I had a D15b?!? Where do I look to see if I have two soleniods? With the ECU do you mean P28? Thats what I have, if thats not what you mean where do I find the code?
I must have missed the second solenoid if he has two then. OP, look behind the passenger corner of the of the head. Google vtec solenoid to see what and where it is exactly. Engine code is stamped on the block next to the transmission and should be easily seen when standing in front of the vehicle.
I only see one niod unless the other is somewhere else. Would both be next to each other?

It says: D15B 7602819
What does that number mean? Also I was told that the oil leak is from an oring in the dissy, anyone know the part number so I can go get one today or do I just tell them its the dis oring for a D15B vtec e?

I really have to start reading the whole thread lol.
I can honestly say that even if it is a real vtec motor, the D series have a wimpy crossover that you can barely feel. You can hear it really well if you put on a cold air intake or something of that nature.
Crossover is just the point of engagement for vtec.

There's the info you need. It's unfortunate.
Swap!

From the guy I bought it from he told me it had a d16z6 and swapped in the D15b using the vtec and all other parts from the stock. The P28 ecu seems to do it's job other then sometimes it dont want to kick into vtec but I think thats from the timing or TPS..
All I know is I have alot to learn and a swap is on the list once I get to that point..
Well if he did reuse the stock head of a d16z6 than consider yourself lucky!!! That valve cover is from the crappy version of the d15b. There were two - one equipped with dual stage VTEC-E and the pretty nice one closer to the z6 and b 16 at the same time. If all you have is the valve cover of a vtec-e machine - tap yourself on the shoulder and get a beer. If you only have one solenoid you probably do have a z6 head and the p28 would be correct. To see if VTEC engages you really should just run a light to the dash to indicate that it engaged. There's a lot of DIYs on the web on how to do that.
