Default My new (old) 180sx PROJECT!

Well guys i haven't been on in a while but I figured I should post this up here to get back on the forums. Back in June I found a steal of a deal on a 180sx. Its a 1991 180sx sr20det and my plans for it will be a 400whp drift machine so I can start participating in the clubsman drift events next year (purely for fun) Here are a few pics and some mods I already did and that will be coming before the snow does lol.

Mods:

-Tomei tuned ecu
-circuit sports 3" elbow & downpipe
-megan racing cat delete 3"
-Jasma 3 1/2" catback (already on car from Japan and sounds badass)
-autometer colbalt boost gauge
-momo (authentic) race-series wheel

Parts I have or that are coming for it in the next weeks"

-Greddy profec II boost controller
-AEM airfuel wideband gauge controller
-Tomei (very hard/rare to find I paid a pretty penny for it from a guy off a local forum) lol short shifter
-nismo (authentic) tall shift ***
-Bings FMIC
-JIC (jdm) adjustable coilovers
-Greddy or Blitz bov for FMIC
-Blitz FATT turbo timer with speed meter

Ill get some pics of the parts as well as I dont have any right now, the car now is fairly stock besides the ecu and exhaust. It does have Rays Racing 3 piece wheels that are pretty nice but in rough shape. Next summer or over winter I plan to get them refinished.

Yes please if you could put it in the project section as while it wont be instantly finished (its going to be an on-going project) it will see work done to it every few months or when I get spare cash and I would like others opinions/suggestions along the way!

Nike Head lol it is about time I picked something remember all the posts in off topic I made asking opinions on various cars lol?

The nice thing about this 180sx is there is no body damage just probally needs a re-spray eventually. Luckily I have a mechanic friend that will be helping me out with some of the tougher things as the project progresses.

Thanks for all the comments guys it is appreciated, Im thinking so I can lay down the 400 whp with ease Im just going to go ahead and take the not so much traveled road for the sr and put a t3 sized top mount turbo (on the manifold) on the car. This year/end of season I am mainly getting it ready for some more serious power next year! I have a few more pics Ill post and yes please move it to project if you dont mind jp!

I forgot to add should I just keep the Rays with the same finish if I get them fixed up?

Punisher I did initially want to do up my 94 civic hatch but I figured when I got this for a deal I couldn't resist the turbo its in my blood now lol ;P I had a 180sx last year but had to sell when I got laid off.

I like honda's and all - don't get me wrong. But there is soo much more you can do in a 180 or 240. Your honda is stuck to drag and light racing. Your nissan can drift, drag, and do a higher level of racing. I'be been looking for a clean 240 for a while now. Or maybe a Mazda.

^ Last time I checked, hondas do pretty well at auto-x too

But drew. Go die, now-ish would be good. You're on your second 180sx, and I have yet to own even a 240. I did get to drift one a few times... sort of. Every time I drove my friend's S13 I kicked her sideways... the transitions to get the back out and back in are nice and smooth... the drift itself... well, let's just say the stock IRS causes massive wheel hop when you're sideways

Are you throwing a disco potato on this one, too?

lol.... you gotta move to ol' Canada here and roommate with me for a while then lol. I too have had the enjoyment of drifting it a bit in the wet which was alot of fun! I'm not too sure on the disco I may go to a larger t3/4 style turbo (so the next step up from the Garrett 2871r's mabey the gt3082r) Anyways some pics of a couple goodies going on this weekend and finally get to lower the car down Ill do a before/after shot.

What will be going on?
-FMIC finally! have not got it in the mail yet though so no pics
-HKS SSQV bov
-Greddy profec spec boost controller
-JIC (from Japan) coilovers
-Tomei short shifter kit and Cusco brass shift collar (this will be awsome!)
-new lugnuts lol
