Hey, I've had a few challengers to the hcf's lowest civic on springs throne, and I'd like to indisputably re-claim my throne

Besides, I have a love affair with ridiculously slammed EG/EKs

Now just imagine a spoon lip hanging off the bottom of the front bumper... I'm honestly not sure I'd be able to take speed bumps at anything more than a highly-angled crawl, but it'd be sex on wheels

well i know you better build a skid plate to protect the oil pan and preferably tranny also. thats the main thing that i was always scared about... was hiting the oil pan on a pot hole or speed bump!

good luck with it tho. hopefully you can find a decent eg! but i vote ej/ek

@justin:

nah, i'm not into the slammed look. I prefer being able to drive a car without scraping over cracks in the pavement. lol

^*****.

Haha, yeah... I'll probably have my friend fab up a skid plate out of aluminum or something. I'd like to do a full under-body on the civic if I get one, but I'm thinking I want the car a little too low for it not to get ripped off on the streets; as it is, the car's going to be ridiculously easy to high-center.

But if I do get the civic, I'll show all these young whipper-snappers a proper suspension set up. None of this springs+shocks=call it done crap

What exactly does it take to make a car that low and still DD it without problems.

You learn how to take driveways and speed bumps at an angle and pretty much have to crawl over them. And even then you're still going to have problems. Rubbing the fronts is inevitable; no matter what you do when you're that low, the fronts are going to rub around slow turns. The thing is you have to try to get them to rub as little as possible. Also, if you want to be dumped that far, you're pretty much going to have to cut out part of the strut tower and box it out a little to afford the UCA a little extra travel.

Anyway, this by no means means I'm definitely getting the civic, but theoretically, this is what I'm looking at for my suspension setup:
-Ground Control coilovers (I'm thinking somewhere along the lines of 500lb front, 450lb rear spring rates)
-KONI yellow struts
-Ground Control extended top hats (front and rear)
-Suspension Techniques sway bars (1" front / .75" rear)
-Benen Industries front lower Strong Bar
-ASR sub-frame brace
-Benen Industries rear lower tie bar
-Benen Industries 3pt strut tower brace
-PW:JDM 4pt rear strut tower brace
-Skunk2 Pro Series+ front camber kit
-Skunk2 rear LCAs

The front camber kit will be used to add more negative camber, I'll probably do the GC perch hat trick in the front, as well as the knuckle trick to give the struts a little more travel (blown struts are bad, mmkay?). And like I mentioned earlier, the front strut towers are going to be boxed out. The list is by no means final, but it's what I'm thinking for my full suspension setup. Then I still have wheel/tire and brakes to play with

*edit: I'm also going to do something a little special to gain clearance for the tires up front for when the suspension compresses. I'll keep you guys waiting to find out what it is though

When and if I end up gettin enough money to do it the right way. I want my car to have this stance again. If not a little lower.

I miss that stance. That with a mugen lip in the front = SEXY!

Also since I know nothing about suspension i'll have to find someone to help me out with all of it.

That list of suspension parts I made. They make all those parts for EKs too. If you have an extra $2700 laying around, great. If not, start saving

Also, I'm thinking about doing sub-frame braces (not like you guys are thinking. Aluminum tubing that is welded to the frame rails and the pinch welds, with tubing connecting the two long pieces) to stiffen up the chassis even further. But I'm not even sure if it's do-able on a civic; it's been so long since I've been under an EG I can't remember what it looks like as far as pinch welds/frame rails. We'll find out when the time comes. And if I do pull it off, I'll be three-wheeling my way into driveways

if you slam it that low you might not want to use the skunk2 camber kit.... and just keep stock upper arms... ive seen one guy that had it so low those 4 top bolts acted like a hole puncher and poped circles out of his top strut tower
