Somebody around here was telling me I should try Midas, what do you think? Their website claims they'll do a free exhaust inspection.

Usually any muffler shop like Midas will do a free inspection.

Shows what I know. Of all the problems I had with my previous domestics, exhaust was never one of them. Pretty amazing really when you consider that the exhaust on my last car was rusted from one end to the other.

Midas says my intermediate pipe has a leak/hole, and quoted me $270 to replace it. They said only $30 of that is labor. I told them thanks for the diagnosis and that I would think about it. Is it just me or does $240 sound like a crapload of money for an OEM-equivalent midpipe? I thought at first maybe they were trying to slip some "special" pipe in there but they assured me it's basically the same thing that would be coming out. I called the Honda dealer and asked them how much to fix it and they quoted me $350'ish. WTF?!

So anyway, what do you guys think?

No F'n way. Find someone with a 6th gen that just put in a cat-back and buy their mid-pipe.

Or spend that money for a cat-back for yourself.

If you really wanna stay cheap, then watch eBay for people selling their OEM exhausts after they switch to stainless steel performance.
