Hello honda forums, first off i would liketo say nice work on the forums. Anyways, i just bought a 2003 honda civic from a dealership so i don't want to void any warrenties...now to the business at hand, i want to place a cold air intake on my car, and i tried, but apparently i got the wrong one, it went in halfway in but i was about to drive it to see but the thing was.. I didn't have my temp sensor pluged in durring that time, because with it pluged in, my car wouldn't start. So with many grand words i put the old stock parts back in, but now i'm going to try again. So i'm wondering before i ever try to put it in, why wouldn't my car start? It tryed to, it usually takes 1 to 1 and 1/2 rollovers to start, but it didn't even try to start. Whats going on?

I bought an off brand pipe and i got a k&N filter for it. Its 2.5 inch pipe like i need but will that even work for my car, it says for manual trans..

 

thats why i never buy anything off ebay. Does it have a m.a.s?

Mass Airflow Sensor! it should go on somewhere between the filter and the intake manifold.

 

you get what you pay for, 'ebay' brands usually involve some modding of your own for fitment. that, or they wont last very long!

 

Alright i got the intake on and it works awesome, went from 33 mpg to about 39 mpg for city. and to the comments to the 'ebay stuff' there is companies branching off from ebay for another way to sell their stuff.. As i recall i've seen K&N stuff on there before. Also my dad always puts headers on his pickups, and always gets them from ebay. As everyone knows headers don't last long, but he sure made that a theory. One has lastest for about 7 years on an old 1986 chevy.

And yes, the ebay pipe i bought did need a little 'trimming' but it works, and looks just like a k&N, i just don't have the 100 dollar sticker on it. Soo with a little non-laziness, and a will to value money, i got what i wanted.
