i dont know why you'd have to drain your coolant to install an intake
because if you install a non-ebay intake, that has some research and development to back it up, you'd end up replacing the coolant line that runs from the block to the throttle body, in order to remove a useless piece of metal pipe. this line contains coolant, and if you don't want to make a mess, or get coolant everywhere, it helps to drain it about a pint to get the coolant level below this line

Thanks again guys, I also wanted to ask if anybody had a pic of a cold air intake installed or pics of the install itself, I searched for about an hour last night and could not find exactly what I was looking for. I have the general idea of how to install it but I wanted a good shot of pipe placement, and maybe where the filter would sit in between the splash guard and the fender liner. I mean on the 06/07 si that is.
