Default aftermarket exhaust on 95 HB

i have a VX with the catalytic converter built into the header, so i'm kinda wonderingif a catback systems really gonna help?

i'm not expecting alot of power gains but i just wanna do it right if i'm gonna buy a new system. and i think i want a "sport" exhaust too, nothing too loud or flashy really, and i'm less inclined to go to a full header system.

need some words of wisdom here, please lay it on me.

do they make one that mounts to the stock exhaust manifold?and then you buy the catback exhaust to finish it off? my motor is stock so i want a smaller pipe, say 2"-2.25".

im in the smae situation. My cat was built right into the header too.

What i had to do was just get an aftermarket hearder (which took the cat away totally), then get a high flow cat and get that welded right after the header in the exhaust. THat way you still sstay emissiosn legal and get all teh good from the header.

I'm not sure about your generation, but i know with mine, if i get a cat-back exhaust and a high flow cat for an EX of my same year, that length matches up to the header perfectly (since the cat is after the header anyway on the EX)

i guess that would work, but i would like to avoid welding anything if possible.

another thing is that on my stock exhaust system, in addition to the cat conv up front, there is a bulge in the pipe about midway back (rightunder the rear passenger seats) that looks kinda like a small glasspack, and its welded on. what the hell is that thing?

that would be your resonator. Yea a glass pack is a type of resonator, so i guess your kidna correct.

If you get an aftermarket catback exhaust, the resonator will be built in alreayd, so you dotn have to worry about that.
