Default ALOT more to changing DX>EX?

So now that im in 100% need of a new cat i plan on just changing the DX cat/exhaust mani thats together with a EX cat/exhaust mani that are seperate. (for example this https://www.hondacivicforum.com/foru...ad.php?t=73237) Well this is what it looks like stock along with its parts (which is my car):

001 STAY, MANIFOLD CONVERTER
002 GASKET, EX. MANIFOLD (NIPPON LEAKLESS)
003 COVER, EX. MANIFOLD
004 CONVERTER, MANIFOLD
005 BOLT, CONVERTER STUD
006 COVER, FR. CONVERTER
007 COVER, RR. CONVERTER
008 SENSOR, FR. OXYGEN
009 SENSOR, RR. OXYGEN
010 BOLT-WASHER (8X14)
011 WASHER, SPECIAL (11X24)
012 NUT, FLANGE (8MM)
013 BOLT, FLANGE (6X10)
014 BOLT, FLANGE (10X20)
015 BOLT, FLANGE (10X35)

Now, im planning on making it an EX, BUT i fell upon these two EX exhaust mani's. (I'm not sure if there the same for auto transmission) But i don't know which one i need for my 99 DX =/

2DR EX, MT, VTEC Exhaust Mani which looks like this:

001 STAY, L. EX. MANIFOLD
002 MANIFOLD ASSY., EX.
003 BOLT, EX.
004 GASKET, EX. MANIFOLD (NIPPON LEAKLESS)
006 BOLT-WASHER (8X14)
007 WASHER, SPECIAL (11X24)
008 NUT, FLANGE (8MM)
009 BOLT, FLANGE (10X25)

& a 4DR EX, MT NON-VTEC Exhaust Mani which looks like this:

002 STAY, L. EX. MANIFOLD
003 MANIFOLD ASSY., EX
004 BOLT, EX.
005 GASKET, EX. MANIFOLD (NIPPON LEAKLESS)
006 COVER, EX. MANIFOLD
007 BOLT-WASHER (8X14)
008 WASHER, SPECIAL (11X24)
008 WASHER, SPECIAL (11X24)
009 NUT, FLANGE (8MM)
010 BOLT, FLANGE (10X20)
011 BOLT, FLANGE (10X25)
012 BOLT, FLANGE (10X35)

So if anybody with the right knowledge knows which one i need, i'd really appreciate it thanks.

there's no such thing as non-vtec EX from the factory... so I would have to say the first one. Although, the only difference in the diagram is one extra bracket that you can just remove.

yeah i just wrote it since it didn't say it was vtec, i just assumed.
but would i need ALL those parts? i did the adding of each part and the total came to $344.81 and with fees $373.44
would a aftermarket be better? maybe like a DC Header? (they're CARB approved in CA correct?)

Yea, just get a DC sports header. Make sure you get a real one and not a knock off, i.e. "DC-S" from ebay. They have real ones on eBay though, that's where I would buy from.

Get a one piece header, don't even waste your time with 2 piece. They aren't any easier to install, and the gasket in between the two pieces is prone to blowing.

i got 2 question about that DC Header.

1)It states its for the EX model only, im a little confused but its a Direct-Fit on a D16Y7? (DX model)
&
2)Does it have a CARB approved sticker/stamp on it to prove its CA legal?

It says EX only because on a DX/CX/LX you have to do the EX exhaust conversion to use it... remember???? It's not direct fit on a DX/CX/LX unless you convert to the EX exhaust path (manifold > catalytic converter under car > exhaust). They don't advertise it as fitting an DX/CX/LX because it's not direct fit on a DX/CX/LX... it would be too confusing for them to explain that you have to convert the exhaust to EX to use it, nor does the seller probably even know that.

It either has a stamp or has documentation or something. I know for sure that it comes with whatever you need to pass CA emissions.

For the EX conversion i need:
ex exhuast mani or ex dc header
ex catalytic converter or aftermarket ex cat
and what do you mean by the exhaust?

and it should be a direct fit where the gaskets meet the engine block correct?

Yes, it will bolt the the engine.

Please read the thread that I spent about an hour writing up. If you look at the diagram and read what I wrote, you should understand what I am talking about.
The exhaust is different. The DX exhaust goes all the way to where your header would end, because it doesn't have the 18" section missing for a cat. You have to get an EX exhaust or have your catback cut short at the front end of it to make room for the cat, since an aftermarket header or an EX stock exhaust manifold does not have the cat in the manifold.

You're confusing me with your confusion... I though you already understood this...

i mean exhaust path as in the manifold, then the cat, then the exhaust

yes, if you cut it and weld the flange back on it will work.

The length you need to remove is 16 1/4"
