Hey guys, for knowledge sake, I would like to is there a difference between axle back, cat back and exhaust systems?

If so, what's the best system for a civic 05 LX auto? I live in New York and I want a sweet low sound and added hp.

Let me now some brand names and a website if you have them.. Thanks.

 

Axle-back is the piping and muffler behind your catalytic converter.
Cat-back is the piping, muffler, and catalytic converter.
Exhaust System is all the piping, plus the catalytic converter, muffler, and exhaust manifold (or header).

What do you mean by "all three"? Everything I mentioned in the above post is all part of your exhaust system. There's just different systems.....full or partial.

 

ugh, isnt a catback everything from the cat to the back, NOT INCLUDING the cat? I'm pretty sure thats how it goes. And an AxleBack is just like the can/tip with a little more piping to conect to your stock piping.

 

You're correct on that, I was writing this while working and wasn't watching what I was saying. Sorry.

 

a cat back comes in three parts. the axle back is just the two back parts of the catback. axleback doesnt give you any power gains. catback replaces from the catalytic converter back. exhuast system is the muffler and piping, catalytic converter, and header (exhaust manifold)

Don't know about "low priced", but you can get more HP and sweet low sound.
What I wanna do is get a header, high-flow cat, 2.25" piping, with a regular looking but high-flow muffler. That way, I won't attract cops with the big ole tip at the back, and I'll be able to hear my tunes while driving on the highway.
