Axleback or Catback
want to change the exhaust for my 04 DX.. i was thinking of Greddy EVO2 but then my friend advised me NOT to get a catback and just get an axleback instead~ he said my engine is only 1.7L so by switching to a wider midpipe it will not be able to hold backpressure which makes my car slower on local and only a slight power gain on highways... and if i only switch the muffler and dont touch the midpipe~ it will still have nice deep low sound plus wont slow me down on the locals.. i am like a total newbie so everything sounds reasonable to me however i still want to get 2nd, 3rd, or even more opinions from y'all~
bottom line........get a catback......or get a Full exhaust setup. Header, hi flow catalic converter, and a catback exhaust. u wanna kno about back pressure? Here read this and go talk to ur friend and ull look like a genius.backpressure myth
Dude, I put a "axle-back" on my car, which is basically just a muffler, and it did diddly. I put a cat-back on there this week and I got about 8-10 Hp. Axle back are just for the sound/noise/looks/attract attention.
axlebacks are for riceing bastards who want looks but dont care about power and cant afford a full cat back and dont wanna save the extra 300 bucks who give honda tuners a bad name.
backpressure does **** for a honda (well...it makes it slower) or on any car for that matter. your friend is downright stupid if he thinks backpressure helps your car.
