Default axleback muffler?

thinking of changing my stock exhaust with at least an axleback muffler. i think catbacks are too expensive for me yet. all i want is a gentle, smooth growl at idle. i don't want them raspy, wake-up-the-neighbors sort of exhaust noise.

any brand suggestions? can i achieve this effect with just a muffler?

mine is a 93 civic esi, by the way

I have a '98 Civic and I put a Flowmaster 60 Series axleback muffler on it. Its a very deep, low growl that sounds amazing. Its just loud enough and its not raspy at all.

I would suggest looking into an Apex-i WS2. Also, I would suggest to go to youtube.com and type in "Civic exhaust". There are hundreds of videos of all different types of exhausts that have been put onto a Civic.

your choice, but i would save for a catback. Axelbacks will give you maybe 2 hp gain, prolly not even noticeable. they are mostly a waste of $ unless you are only after the sound which is understandable.

a possible route is buying a crappy ebay catback for cheap so you have the full piping, then getting a nicer sounding muffler for it later when you have a bigger budget.

goodluck with whatever you decide.

x2 i would get ebay piping and then an apexi muffler. if you just want to get the muffler tho, i got a thunderbolt one and its nice and deep, not too loud, not too annoying. u paid 300 including installation at a muffler shop
