Best SRI brands
Im wanting to know whats a real good SRI to get for my 95 civic DX. I heard the piping doesnt matter too much its the filter really. Whats the benefits of long piping on the intake versus shorter.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Either way you go it's mainly the filter you're spending the money on/for, and the mounting brackets. Alot of people will find cheaper intakes and swap the filters, all I'll say is make sure that the intake has a damned mounting bracket... my cheapo ebay intake rattled agenst EVERYTHING cause it was held in with just the coupler...
haha that bites blackdx. Hes right. It doesnt matter what sri you get. You can go with the injen, or aem sri and both are really good. Or you could buy an ebay intake and by a k&n filter or the aem dryflow filter to replace the crappy foam one.
For the most part, an intake tube is an intake tube. It really just matters that you have a quality filter. Then, there's the exception: the Weapon*R Dragon intake. The Dragon is specifically tuned for each engine, so I'm going to say it'll net you a bit more power than an ebay tube. But in all reality, the gain you'll see won't even be noticeable. I say get an ebay tube and a K&N or AEM filter.
And I'd think shorter tubes would get you better throttle response, but a hotter air charge and longer tubes would have slightly worse throttle response and slightly colder air, but I'm not sure.

On my dx I got the full cai but because the previous previous owner had a body kit on the car (so I think) they cut the plastic fender liners and so I got alot of water into the intake and damn near killed the car. So then I went with just the upper main pipe making it a sri but wasn't happy with the heat being drawn from the radiator so I took the second lower pipe and cut the 90 degree bend out of it so now my intake sits right behind my passenger headlight. It seems to like the coolerish air better (not much air is forced into the opening) but it does seem better but it does suffer the issue of the longer piping making it slightly laggy on acceleration.
