i used to run +4's in my built 97 cavalier z24 that ran low 14s, never had a problem.

my buddy runs +4's in his built LS motor w/ MSD also running low 14s, alos no problems

I'd stay away from +4's on a high-comp. engine (I.E. a Honda...) especially if you're modding. They do have a tendency to run too hot, and they burn themselves up quite frequently. Stick with the +2's. And as for platinum vs. iridium, iridiums fire colder, but plats fire bigger. I'm a fan of the iridiums myself... NGK or Bosch.

also, for nitrous, i personally like the good old copper plugs(one or two heat ranges colder than stock). not for a performance effect, but the tips on the plats and the iridiums are so small that the insane cylinder temps you hit on the bottle will burn through them over a fairly short period of time. and replacing those expensive iridiums every 10-15k is a bit outrageous.
