i decided against it seeing how the pcv on a EM2 needs vacuum from the intake to function properly .

it vent gases caused by heated oil and blow by gases in the crank case . the tube coming out of your valve cover that connects to the sri . it really needs the vacuum from the intake to function properly .

so then the breather filter isn't any good cuz it needs vacuum?
or does none of this really matter and the filter is more like engine bling?

Pretty much all cars, trucks and busses use a "closed system" in that blowby gasses containing oil, water, and some unburned fuel are expelled from the crankcase and reburned by the engine. Diesel buses and some trucks use large oil/air separators to remove oil and particulates before they get pulled into engine and escape (to some extent) out into the atmosphere. If you vent these gases into your engine bay via the filter, some of that oil and unburned fuel will coat your engine over time. What's worse is that it also gets out into the atmosphere, contributing to pollution.

Generally speaking, small engines produce far less blowby contaminants than do 6 and 8 cylinder engines, so catch cans (to trap some of the oil and water) are not really necessary.

Skip the breather filter and get something that'll really help.
