Default broken exhaust bolts

I have fallen victim to rusty bolts...the two bolts holding the muffler to the intermediate exhaust pipe ('96 DX) have broken during attempted removal. So now I have the backs of the bolts still protruding from the intermediate pipe. I've used PB Blaster and vice grips with no success. Any ideas?

Oh yea, are there typically springs on the muffler to intermediate pipe mating bolts or are these just on the front side of the intermediate pipe?

Did you try hammering the crap out of it? But if they're that bad you'll prob have to torch them out. And i have only seen springs on the front side.

You're going to need a propane torch but oxyacetylene is better. Heat up the bolts till their red hot and become ply able. Then simply beat the crap out of it to remove!

thats what happened to my tranny drain bolt and i took it to an exhaust shop. have them torch the bolt and attach a metal rod or something they can grip, if they weld them together they can use the grip to turn it and rip it off
