Default CAI

is a CAI that prone to hydrolocking for a 08 si. i mean i'm tying to decide which to get, CAI or a short ram intake. is the power difference that much? i live in ny for now and i'm worried that if i get a CAI i will have problems come winter time and i don't want to take it on and off with the change of seasons. i plan to eventually turbo my si in the future. i heard that CAI is better since you get the cold air and not the hot eng air from a short ram. but again do are they that prone to hydrolocking?

cai is better. Ive been running mine on my 06 now for over 30k. Ive driven in heavy down poors. The only way your gonna hydro lock is if you basically submerge the filter.

you have nothing to worry about.

diff in hp isnt that great , about 1.5 to 3 horses so i would say get a SRI. And you dont have to submerge the filter to hydrolock the engine , it only takes a couple cc's of water for the engine to lock and cause a massive ammount of damage

^ if he is that worried he can also use a hydro shield.

or just go with the short ram.

Ive driven in 2 hurricans and havnt had a problem. SRI will only add more heat to your engine bay. Hydroshield wont be effective and will lose power.
