CAI installed: I didn't break anything!
I finished my first intake install. AEM CAI on an '06 1.8 Coupe. I don't recommend it as your first install if you're not pretty comfortable with putting tools to your car. The install part itself isn't that big a deal, but getting the original parts out first was more involving than I expected. The motor is stuffed halfway under the windshield and there's not a lot of room back there.
I'm real happy with the looks and performance. The red I chose is a nice contrast to the black valve cover. With the stock exhaust there's only a hint of noise at idle, then you get a nice growl as the revs come up. I had heard that it takes time for the ECU to adapt to it, but I'm getting more torque and power right away. I keep forgetting that I don't have to slip the clutch as much on takeoff.
Thanks y'all for talking this old guy through it. It looks good, sounds good, and I did it myself!
