I live on the west coast 2 hours north of Seattle so I get tons of rain, lots of puddles and everything and i have a AEM CAI and i've never had any problem with hydrolocking and stuff like that...i love the AEM and would recommend it to anyone.

does anyone have any hydrolocking stories? I like 2 hours north of seattle and get a ton of rain...lots of puddles and stuff and i've never had a problem with water getting into myengine through the cold air intake...i've got an AEM and would highly recommend the brand...i've had both a short ram and cold air and i honestly think both are extremly similar...the short ram isdefinitly louder though...bothhave produced virtually the same hp gains! greatproduct!

lol man mybrokenblinker you really hate it when someone brings up hydrolock with CAI's. It's cool though i'm not knock'n on ya.
i think people think hydrolockign is easier than it is, the filter has to be COMPLTELY submerged, when was the last time you were halfway up your bumper in water? You might get a bog every now or then if you drive through a big puddle, but other than that you really dont need to worry about it, and bypass valve restricts air flow quite a bit as well

hard to beleive, but if it happened that sucks real bad, and if you are worried about it you can always get the bypass valve, but its obviously not a common thing to hydrolock an engine just bydriving down an interstate in moderate rain with a CAI or else it'd be happening left and right. A heatshield is another preventative method if youre worried about it

there's quite a few doods that have hydrolocked their engines with a cold air intake at www.acuraworld.com.

you don't have to completely submerge your filter, contrary to popular belief. but driving through a puddle large enough to splash water up into the intake filter can do it.

I would never take the chance of buying a CAI here in NC because of flash floods and thunderstorms that cause water puddling on roads.
