I agree ebay and knock off brand intakes do the same in the area of hp gains. The hp is gained by removing the stock air box, this is where all the restriction is. And of coarse you can get a little more hp with the colder air. But as far as the filter goes there is only so many ways to make a cone air filter, one brand is as good as the next. I will put this to the test. I will test out the cheap one I have on now and then test the AEM dry filter to see if there is any difference.

 

your not going to notice any difference, the only difference in the filters is that the name brands are going to last longer and filter the air better. The only really test you could do is put it on a dyno, which would yield the same hp and torque results.

Edit: neither "sucks" in more air then the other, or not enough atleast to make a difference.

 

Do not use the filter that comes with an eBay intake. They are the most restrictive pieces of garbage ever. They don't even filter good.

Get an eBay intake and put an AEM or K&N, etc. filter on it.

No plans to do that rite now, wash it whenever i get a chance. I did look at some k and n and i think it would be like $100 for a filter..

I have a bomz short ram on my 98 hx now. Dont like it to much piping is 3 inches, a bit large imo. It does work ans fit though. I have a Xtune cold air coming tomorrow. I have a AEM dry flow that will be going on this.

the problem with this is the 3" is actually too big. optimally, where the intake meets the throttle body, they both should be the same size.
having 3" and then an adapter coupler to 56mm is actually worse than having 2.5" intake tubing with 56mm throttle body.
