Default Custom Bent vs. Buying a new cat?

I see throughout the site that some people have custom bend cat's and some have brand name ones like magnaflow. What are the pros and cons of these and whats the performance differences? I do know that custom is cheaper, but not much else

custom bent cats? A universal Magnaflow cat should do you fine if you want one, but the only time you'd see gains is with the high-flow Magnaflow cat, and even then the gains aren't much.

I have a custom exhaust, but you don't bend a cat.

+1, i've never even heard of a custom bent cat. Are you talking about a custom bent complete exhaust system? Then yes, i think it's a good idea, if you have a nice resonator and muffler. This is a Magnaflow cat:

It's either just bolted or welded somewhere in your exhaust piping to contorl emissions and really doesn't need to be "bent" or anything; it's just welded in any place where theres 2' - 3' of straight piping.

Flip has a direct fit catalytic convertor that will bolt up to the downpipe and use the correct exhaust gasket. You can also get universal cats with different inlet/outlet diameters to fit your application. They work the same, it's just the universal one needs to be fabbed up into place on your exhaust.

I think he means Cat-back exhaust not the actual cat itself.
