Default debating intakes

Hey guys, new here, just got an 06 civic lx and have been reading a lot of posts already on here about the pros and cons of sri and cai. Most of the experiences seem to be based on installation in si civics. Care to share any opinions or experiences with the application of these on a lx civic like mine? Difficulties, frustrations, outcomes?

Same basic concept on your car as what you've read for the Si, just less gains since your engine isn't as responsive to bolt-on modifications as the K20.

Really there is no cons to the intake, you just get your car a little louder and make the engine bay look a lil worse. The bad part is high price with little gains.

people say "DONT GET A CAI IT WILL SUCK UP WATER!"

no. It wont suck up water unless you go into a full on lake sized puddle going up to your inner fenders, at that point you risk flooding the whole engine bay and could mess something up anyway.

I like the look of a CAI over the SRI but everyone has their own opinion. Stock airbox is my personal favorite.

I'm getting new exhaust as well, I'm not really looking for amazing gains, I expect them to be minimal. But I was under the assumption that a new intake + bigger pipes (2.25") would = some minimal performance increase maybe between 7-10 hp. Is that a reasonable expectation? I'm not doing this in an attempt make my civic into something it isn't, I'm just enjoying my first "new" car

I hear you on that, And yes the better airflow will help with gains around 7-10 I believe although I don't know too much on your generation civic. Just make sure you get a nice sounding muffler on the back, If it is a cannister style muffler it will be loud and look really ghettoo on your gen civic.
