Default Dent in the resonator

Could a dent in the exhaust resonator cause a tapping sound in my exhaust or is it most likely an exhaust leak causing the tapping.

probably a loose/rattling heat shield. if not, check to make sure your exhaust isn't touching anything besides the rubber hangers it hangs from and the spot it is attached to the catalytic converter.

possibly. i bet its rubbing/clanking against something though or the heatshield is loose.
