lol the test pipe replaces the cat... make a choice.

Edit - Just read you ordered the megan drift spec. Have fun hearing nothing but "wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh (shift) wahhhhhhhhhhhh (shift) wuuuuaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh..." ... you get the idea. Had one, hated it so much I crashed the car... lol not really, but I am glad it is gone now.

my car has the cat as part of the header. the test pipe is to replace what would be the cat for an ex. therefore i will still have the cat and the test pipe.

Or you could just have a piece welded onto your exhaust by a shop instead of buying a test pipe and gaskets.

Well if you're not buying a header, then you would use a test pipe to extend the exhaust so the catback reaches the exhaust manifold. You will still pass emissions, because you will still have a cat.

If you get an aftermarket header in the future, you will need to then replace the test pipe with a catalytic converter.

You can have an extension welded in instead of getting the test pipe, but the nice thing about using the test pipe to extend the exhaust is that it is bolt-on and you can easily remove it and replace it with a catalytic converter if you get an aftermarket header later on (getting an aftermarket header would eliminate the stock cat, since currently your cat is in the exhaust manifold, so you would need a cat to be where the test pipe is).

yea i already ordered the test pipe with the catback, simply for direct bolt on and no custom fab and i wasnt plannin on gettin a header. its just that i was reading that emissions would fail if it was w/out the cat and was wondering if it was the same if i had the cat. but now my question is answered thanks!

i just got the exhaust today and the test pipe shouldve came with it, but it looks like its not comin til tomorrow. if it does, ill have it installed this weekend and pics to follow.

hopefully i will be installing the exhaust today after i get off work if i have enough time when i get home. any last minute tips for the install other than wd40 the bolts to get them off and tightening them good when i put the new one on? im assuming since its direct bolt on everything should be pretty straigh forward with the install.

just installed the exhaust. sounds better than i thought, actually not that bad. the only issue with the install is that the tip is up against the bumper on one side, so when i hit some bumps in the road i hear a slight rattle. ill have to make the adjustment in the next day or two. i will probably have pics up on sunday.
