I think you mean models.. your generation (99-00) are sought after, it's just that you got an LX model.

really..... once again i was ill informed by someone else, they had said my gen was basically kind of a mistake or the not so great years for the civic.

it is my understanding, from both a honda dealer and an autoshop that the lx has the same exhaust layout as the dx. assuming that if they offer an exhaust in 2/4dr for the dx, it should also work for an lx even if i got one that was labeled only for a 2dr dx. was i misinformed again? cuz thats how ive been searching for exhausts is through the dx

Well my questions had to do with the fact that i own a 94 dx which means i dont have the cat in my header. So does anyone know what i would need to use an ex exhaust? just the cat?

You'd probably be okay but try looking for your LX indead of DX to stop the confusion. Your friend is an idiot.

Quesiton: Do you plan on ever buying a header for you civic? or putting on a Vtec head?

it was actually someone from this forum that had told me all those things, although, i dont remember who it was exactly.

when i search for LX pretty much nothing comes up except cheezy brands or not loud enough ones.

i actually wasn't ever planning on buying a header because of what i was informed like i stated above. i pretty much jus wanted to put an intake (done), exhaust, and possibly new lights and wheels. thats all i really intended on doing.... i know im not a "real tuner", but that's just me.

No one said you weren't or were a tuner, it's all for fun isn't it . I was only suggesting an EX conversion because if you wanted a header after buying a LX or DX exhaust will require some fabrication later on.

It won't make it raspy, he's not removing the cat. The test pipe is only serving as an extension in this scenario. It will be fine.

You only need to convert to EX exhaust if you want a header (or turbo). There is no other reason to.

If he buys a test pipe now to fill in the gap created by using an EX exhaust, then later if he wants a header he just has to replace the test pipe section with a cat. Makes it perfectly simple.

Actually I found that my MPG and power increased by switching my y7 exhaust over to y8 exhaust. As a side note; since EX and etc can change depending on country it is better to go by engine code too bad teh manufactures don't.

But if you but a system for an EX/Si, it will fit, all the bends are the same. it will just come up short, the test pipe in NO WAY replaces teh cat, it simply works like an extra length of pipe.

Exactly. You cat woudl still be located in your exhaust manifold. Also it seems you are just after sound. If this is the case why not just get an axle back section and save money?

As far as how difficult the swap is...not very, if you know how to do basic mechanical work. The trick to it is preparation. The night before I did it I sprayed all the nuts I was going to be removing with penetrating fluid and put it up on jack stands. Son in the morning I just had to get up, crawl under the car and undo the now very easily turned nuts.

Also make sure you have enough hardware to connect everything. Otherwise you will be like me and have to run out and get parts which can take 15 min to an hour.

Time wise I spent 4 hours and that was with some un-cooperative nuts and taking my time/being paranoid.

Hope this helps.

thanks for all the input everyone, but i actually received an email yesterday from a website that had 1 evo2 in stock! so i jumped on it right away and placed the order around 12:30 this morning haha. and it only cost me less than $30 more than i was searching for. a small price to pay for what i want, especially since it is a discontinued item. so hopefully by this weekend if not early next weekend i'll have it installed and some pics up for everyone. of course, thats if my order actually gets the last one in stock haha.........
