Default exhaust tip

I found this 3.5" out exhaust tip at advance auto parts ($15) and it looks pretty sweet but it just barely fits. it's supposed to just slide over the old tip and screw to tighten. i got it on but it sticks out just a like maybe a 3/4", but i think it sticks out too much. should i cut some of the tip off the muffler and weld on the new tip or just buy a completly new exhaust (exhaust way to deep for my kind, i like'm loud) gimme your opinion..

LATA!!!!!!!!

Seriously, tips do no good. You'll probably want to aim for a full aftermarket exhaust system. WHat are you plans with the car, boost? n/a? That will determine how much piping you want to pick up now.

well it has this little 1" tip from the muffler and i really like the exhaust cuz it has a deep roar when you really hit it but i really just liked the way it looked but the fact of the matter is i really don't have the money right now till i get a real J.O.B. i only bought the tip for the looks right about now, i'm going to buy an exhaust sooner or later but for now i'm sticking with what i got. i really just wanted to know if cutting the orig. tip off and putting the new one on was a good idea i will post pics of what it looks like soon

Since you are just going for looks, cutting the muffler wont hurt. I would cut off a portion of the muffler and clamped down the tip...just for the looks. I wouldnt weld it, too much work and time. Then when you do have the money to buy/install a performance exhaust, just replace it then.

Just cut it and clamp it on, just make sure u measure it b4 you cut it so you dontt get it to short to clamp the tip on, otherwise the exhaust gasses will go right up to your bumper (casuing it to look like complete crap and possibly melt some stuff also). Just my personal opinion here, but i would just say screw the whole project and just save up for exhaust, and if you do go with the performance exhaust route go with something nice, no cheap APC or knock-off ebay stuff.
