Header, exhaust, intake, want to get all 3
Many people here post things that they would like to get, but never do. I wish I could take a car apart and put it back together(I can do this with Nitro R/C, just not real life cars lol) so I need some help with some parts.
I would like to upgrade my 2000 EX, upgrade the exhaust headers, air intake, and exhaust. I recognize a lot of the bigger names, but I have no idea what to get or where to look.
For exhaust headers, should I go stainless steel or ceramic, pros and cons of each? For cold air intake, I hear a lot about water getting in the engine, what's that about, should I stay away?
For exahaust, I want something better than the stock toothpick exhaust, but I don't want those fat fart can exhausts either, prefer something deep, but not loud.
I've seen air intakes range around $100-$150, that's fine, same goes for headers($200-$300?), and exhausts($400-$500?)
Also, since I know no one that works on cars, would basically any car shop/car center install this stuff for me and how much does it typically cost to get all 3 installed?
Sorry for all the questions, but I'm really looking forward to upgrading my car.

there are i/h/e power packages w/name brands that run for ~$1000. to get the stuff installed, expect $80-$150 for each. i/h/e is fairly easy to install with directions so you might consider doing the installs yourself. the only thing is the exhaust: you might have to have it welded if you don't have a catback that replaces your oem perfectly
best of luck

In my honest opinion, if you don't want custom I/H/E components (designed and built for a specific powerband), I'd recommend getting a cheap Ebay header and intake (maybe upgrade the filter to an AEM/K&N), and having an exhaust shop in your local area put together an exhaust for you. Have them construct some 2.25" mandrel bent piping, resonantor, and weld it to a muffler of your choice. Muffler's on ebay are cheap. The performance gains between this and a $1000 I/H/E set up from typical name brands will be minimal. This set up might cost ~$500 for the parts.
Intake installation couldn't be easier, do it yourself. Header and exhaust aren't hard either, but if you just don't want the hassle, your local exhaust shop can do it.
