Default Header wrap

Why do people wrap their header. To keep the exhaust hotter? Where do you get it.

To keep the engine bay cooler...e-bay is a good place...I personally used it to keep my shifter from getting hot (short shifter too close to exhaust..)

Header wrap is more or less like insulating your header. It keeps the heat in the header and away from the engine bay.

Yea I wasn't sure. Header looks better without it but I guess if it helps, use it. Does the wrap keep ebay cooler than with stock x manifold without wrap? Thanks

it keeps the bay cooler, so you are intaking cooler air, but it also keeps the exhaust hot, which in that article i posted shows that the hotter it is, the bigger it is, so the faster it moves, helping with that scavenging effect.

on the DC sports ceramic or ceramic coated header the ceramic has the same effect as wraps...but some people say wraps work better than ceramic

I've never seen any numbers on header wrap temps, but remember, for every 10* you cool your intake air temp down- you will see a ~1% increase in Hp.

So would buying this be worth the advantages? And does heating up your exhaust gasses actually help? I know hotter air is less dense so would that mean faster exhaust flow and less back presure?
