Default high flow cats

not too long ago, i brought my focus into my local muffler shop for a custom catback exhaust. they dont charge much to install one...about 200 bucks if you buy a muffler from them. i wanted them to add a high flow cat to my system and they told me you pretty much cant do it and theres no reason to.

the guy said for one, you wont pass inspection, you have to sign some paper saying its ok for them to do it. second off...it isnt really high flow...(they sell catco cats) he said they advertise it as it, and yes the size is bigger but the honeycomb is the same as regular so theres no difference and it wont do anything, but he will still sell it. he also said you cant change it until 80k miles....is he lying or what? why would he try to lose money?

sounds odd... look into a magnaflow cat, thats what I have. if you dont have very many mods (like the rest of the exhaust and an intake) its really not worth the trouble.

they are called hi-flow because they are made to still be legal, illegal would be no cat at all (or a gutted cat)

did i just read 'name brand test pipe'?

seriously that guy is whacked. theyre called high flow cats because they are made to flow like a test pipe but not sound like **** and not make you fail emissions. magnaflow is great, but if you can spare the cash go for a Random Techonology cat.
