Default High flow vs. test pipe

This has probably come up before but i tried a search and couldnt find anything. Is there any difference between a High-flow cat and a test pipe power and sound wise? I know high flow cats are ment to look like a regular cat but does it restrict the flow any more than a test pipe and does it muffle the sound at all? im wondering because my exhaust came with a test pipe and im gena put it in for like a week and see if i notice any power differences. i kno it will be really loud and thats why im only gena have in for a short while..

thanks.

In my experience and from what I've heard, the high flow cat is considerably more expensive than the test pipe, the flow is about the same. With a turbo Id recommend the pipe though. I think the cat would muffle the sound a little more than the test pipe, and obviously you would pass emissions with the cat and fail with the pipe if thats a concern in your area.

test pipes flow great, sound crappo and u cant pass inspection. High-flow cats in some cases, flow as good or better than a test pipe AND ull pass emissions......they sound better too. However, test pipes are 50 bucks. The nice hi flow cats are like 300

A hi-flow will give you better torque though

Pete you've been drinking again...

You can get test pipes on ebay for around $30 shipped. For a lightly modded car, Id recommend a cat however.

random technologies cat flows better than a test pipe and you will past emissions but it will cost you a cool 250 bucks.

alright. my magnaflow came with a test pipe so thats not a worry. i did consider a hi-flow but little to pricey for me. im gena stick with the stock cat that i have in, but im prolly gena throw the test pipe in for a couple days and see if theres any noticable power difference...
