How much air does your car take in?
So I was watching Top Gear the othe day, and they were talking about the Bugatti Veyron. Simply an amazing machine to say in the least. They were reading off some statistics and said that at full speed, it's taking in more air in one minute than you do in four days. It got me to thinking. How much air does a Civic take in? Granted, a civic is running a 4 cylinder, while bugatti has two turbocharged V8s. But I was still curious.
How much air is flowing through my intake at like..
Idle?
60?
100?

RE: How much air does your car take in?
I think one full revolution of the crankshaft would pull about the volume (liters) of all four cylinders. Multiply this cylinder volume by the engine rpm, then multiply the product by the time (one minute) to get your approximate answer in liters of air.
Cylinder volume (liters/rev) X engine rpm (rev/min) X 1 min = volume (liters)
Cylinder volume (liters/rev) X engine rpm (rev/min) X 1 min = volume (liters)
