Oh, and another quick question.

I don't have any exhaust system on the car as of right now, do I need to get one immediately?

Also, what will this sound like if I put the headers on and no exhaust?

I managed to do my intake by myself and my cat-back with a friend. Would you say the header is easier or harder to install than a cat-back exhaust?

not if you have to modify the o2 sensors and other crap, no. and just basically it's more difficult than catback regardless of o2 sensor problems but it's still not too difficult if you have somehwhat of an idea what to do.

the hardest part of replacing my header was taking it off, lol. the o2 sensor wasn't really a big deal, just make sure you don't damage it. the megan racing header i previously had didnt sound too different from stock, a bit deeper, i dunno, i really cant explain it. it did sound good though. it'll bolt up straight to your cat, so u dont need an immediate exhaust replacement, though it wont be a bad idea. my gaskets came with the megan racing header off ebay, so u shouldn't need to buy new ones. and also, the o2 sensor placement was same as the stock one was, so that wasn't a problem either. good luck!

you can rent a torque wrench from any local auto parts store. but yea gaskets aren't going to be too much if they don't come with the header. just be sure to have wd-40 handy or some other lube to help get the bolts off and such. not having an exhaust system won't hurt, but would definitely be a future idea. get the basic intake/headers/catback done. help the car breath better.

Spray all the bolts with a healthy load of PB Blaster, that'll make life a lot easier. It can be found at almost any auto parts store.

When taking the manifold bolts off (front of the motor) be sure to use a 6 sided socket or wrench, anything else will strip them. I know from experience that once they're stripped, their a BITCH to get off. I got lucky with mine..

Good luck!!

Anyone got any suggestions for a good quiet catback system that I could get on ebay or should I go to a local exhaust place that does custom exhausts and have them put one on?

Dont let the autoshops rip you off. Anyone with little knowledge about cars can replace it. If you have a stock exhaust you may want to replace your exhaust system cause lx and dx civics normally contain the cat converter attached to the exhaust manifold and with that being replaced it may not pass emmisions test. Its worth it though adds about 10hp to your car. Also, if your on a budget, just buy a generic brand. There is really no difference besides price. You can get some for around 80-100 bucks on eBay.

Welcome to the forum. You should do some searching around. This thread is nearly five years old. Also, buying a brand name part most of the time is much different than a knock off generic part. Name brand companies take the time to research and produce parts that are reliable and maximize the best gains that can be yielded from said part.

Once again, use the search function we have here. It will help you greatly.
