I decided to put headers on today and what i got wasn't what i expexted. my car went from the nice throaty exaust sound from before to rice popper. why is it doing this? i think the heat shield is doin a lot of the noise but i don't know. please help me.

 

when you put on headers i don't think you need to keep the heat sheild on. take it off and see how it sounds.

 

its not the heat shield over the headers i took that off but the heat sheild(s) on the rest of the piping(cat-back) because the sound seems to be coming from beneath the car, around where the new headers meet the cat

 

Maybe you have a leak. Have someone cover the tailpipe with a rag or something and go under the car and look for exhaust leaks. Pressure should build up in the piping and the exhaust will leak out of where ever the leak is.

 

The problem is you only need 1 header.

 

do you still have any noise resinators on your car in the exsaust?

 

Do u have an aftermarket exhaust? cuz i know sometimes when u put a new header in it changes the sound. It also could be a leak.

 

What brand name exhaust do you have? Do you have a catalic converter? How about resonators? Crappy exhaust do tend to sound like azz. Anything under 300 bucks (new) is garbage.

 

well the exhaust system is stock for the most part, could that be it. the headers don't have any labels on them, i got them from someone a while back, and i have a greddy axle back sp1 muffler

 

psh well theres your problem. no axle back sounds good.
