I want an exhaust that wont rust in 1 yr
Stock 2000 Civic SI
130,000 mi on the original OEM exhaust and it's about done. Can you purchase a new OEM Honda exhaust system online or something equivalent that will hold up better than the typical crappy aluminized piping you get from Midas? On previous cars, it seemed like that Midas crap would only last a year or so before it'd rust out.
www.hondaautomotiveparts.com wont ship exhaust pipes.
If I had to go performance, I'd want at most a WS2, but even then I'm hesitant to put anything bling on it because the car is never garaged.
PS, it was a pleasant surprise to find this site is so much better than Honda-Tech

for stock sound.... unlikely. but for BEST SOUND IMO.... RSR or is it RSX i cannt remember. all stainless steel with a sweet sound! should last along time being stainless steel!
the Apexi WS2 actually has a unique kind of coating over it, i don't think it will rust. I've got custom 2.25" stainless steel piping, its been throuhg a winter or two now and i think it's doing just fine. btw heres the WS2 coating:
if you're that worried about rust, then don't live up north ( and also don't move your *** down here) lol
you could just have a shop weld you up a full exhaust with all stainless piping and hardware, and just get an ole stainless fart can.

^ i'm up in upper michigan and like i said my exhaust is doing fine. The winters are harsh, talking snow, ice, salt, and LOTS OF IT. Where you from? I don't think you've got too much to worry about it, my OEM exhaust on my 99 finally rusted through in like '05, so thats like 6 years right there, which is pretyt good IMO. I expect my new piping to last just as long too.
Flip, did you bolt the WS2 up yourself? What would you recommend? I've changed my clutch before, but never had to torch rusted bolts.
How was fitment on the WS2? While searching it appears some people have trouble with it banging on the undercarriage.
I'm in Indiana and am happy the orginal exhaust lasted 8 years!

bolting up a exaust is actualy very easy... rusted bolts will SNAP in two pieces and fall out on the exaust
so just buy some new front spring bolts and nuts or just hardened bolts and nuts and some washers and reuse the factory springs on them, and then shoot some kinda penatrating oil or wd-40 all around the steel/rubber hangers and with alittle pushing and pulling you should be able to slide the rubber hangers right off. not hard at all! and if you have any clanging issues then just lift the car up and find the spot that is clanging. most likely in shiping the box got droped or something that bent the steel hanger rods... just bend them back and your good

i've only heard sounds clips and read reviews on the WS2 man, and all have been good. It seems to sound super good, fitment should be just fine. Apexi is a good name, you should be able to trust it. And you guys get snow in Indiana, at least a little bit, but i think if you got any quality exhaust it shouldn't rust in a year.
