Intake and Exhaust System

There's a FAQ for that, but even after reading it, I'm still a litle unsure cause I'm new to this whole "upgrading performance" thing. And the whole car thing in general.

Hello there Civic Owners,
I would like to know if there is any differences between
a cheap and a expensive intake/exhaust system?
Thanks in advance.
Hello there Civic Owners,

If you buy a cheap quality intake, you run the following risks:
- the filter might burn up in your engine bay.
- the intake may be bent incorrectly and will not fit the bay
- the intake may be missing parts thus making it very difficult to install
- the intake may not have the right diameter and may not hook up to your throttle body even with the coupler
- the intake's filter will be absolute crap and will let any and all debris from the road go directly into your engine
Exhausts:
If you buy a cheap exhaust, you run the following risks:
- the exhaust may rust quickly
- the exhaust may sound raspy
- the exhaust will subject you to taunts from others as a "ricey"
- the exhaust may not bolt up correctly
- the exhaust may not be suitable for the power production of your car; the piping may be too big or small
- the exhaust has had no R&D, so you have no idea if it's doing anything for your car, other than make noise
