RE: magnaflow exhaust
I guess I got lucky then lol, all we did for my stock cat converter was get a steady socketwrench with leverage pole, and banged it a bit with a hammer cam eoff pretty nicely for me, but then again everyone's experience is different.
Though i highly suggest you get a fully new cat liek a random tech and take it off from the head and make a "FULL" catback system.

Torching is doable if you know what you're doing with a torch near highly flammable gasoline.
I would suggest getting a dremel tool, some cutting wheels, and 3 new bolts, 3 nuts and some washers. Cut through the bolt between the nut and catalytic converter. It may take a couple cutting wheels before you are done. Then, remove the bolt. This is the fastest solution and least expense of elbow grease because some nuts are rusted on as strong as a weld. Always wear eye protection. Always use jack stands while under the car. You could get a grinder if you have use of one afterwards. I use my dremel tool for other stuff.
Make sure the bolts are the same diameter, or close, to the ones on there now.

RE: magnaflow exhaust
liquid wrench and an impact gun could work also... assuming you have access to an impact gun, but seriously... for the headache you will go through a professional install should only run you about $40-50
