Mandrel Piping

Default Mandrel Piping

Whats the difference between mandrel piping and regular bent piping...

crush bent have dents all around the corners, they literally bent the pipe around the corners. This makes the pipes overall diameter smaller around the corners, which takes away some power.

Mandrel is compltely smooth bends. There is no diameter loss (or maybe barely at all), this is the best for power.

i ask cause i'm having a little trouble finding a place that has a mandrel machine, i just order the netami twin loop muffler and im goin to be pissed if i can't put the muffler on... every place i called does the 2.5 custom muffler but not mandrel, any advice...

lots of muffler shops have them, just call around.

flip not to burst your bubble but that is press bent piping.

here is mandrel piping, it is smooth all around the bend.

hmm.......oh well, i'm happy with it, seems better than crush anyway. Thanks for the info though man, i guess press bendingwould be a better name for it anyway, i was right next to him the entire time he was working on it and he was just pressing it in bends. As you can see though, the diameter reallydoesnt get that much smaller though, so i'm pretty happy with it.

so whats the difference, i just wanna put my muffler on, i doubt that i'm going to get any HP out of mandrel bending... i was goin to take it to meinke and have them put it up... what am i loosing if i do press or crush bending...

just have them weld her on there. when i did just the muffler a couple years ago it cost me 50 bucks
