I just bought a stainless manifold for my 1.5i LS V-Tec Civic EK 1997. The mechanic i took it to has put it on and it fitted ok. Trouble is, (he tells me once its on), that on my original one, there was the cat built inline with the manifold. This new manifold does not have one and so i am now catless. In the UK its law to have one for your MOT which i just passed before having this put on thankfully.

My question is, is there a way i can now add a cat further down the pipe so i can keep this manifold or are there stainless manifolds out there that cater for my cat needs?

Yes, you can add a cat further down under the vehicle. You can even get a high performance one to help a little more. I have a Car Sound cat on my car and I love it, they are made by Magnaflow so you know theyre good.

 

Ok cool, thanks. Guess i'll have to take to to a garage and see if they can add one further down then. The exhaust is making a buzzing noise as i accelerate too since putting this manifold on. Not sure if that means there is a gap somewhere in the connections or if the standard back box now cant cope with the airflow as no cat air restrictions.
