are you sure that theer are 2 sensors on the cat? Either way you could keep your old sensors, and you do not have to go to the dealership you could search around for a high flow cat online. Im assuming your car is a 2002, what is wrong with the cat, i still have my stock cat on a 99, works fine.
yeah theres is two sensors they both look like spark plugs, i dont really know whats wrong with the cat one day my engine light came on so i had a diagnosis done to it they said it was the sensors that were broke that i needed to replace them but then they said it was the catalityc that was broken. the car lost power since the engine light came on and the cat. converter is broken.
It's probably clogged. Just look around for a high flow cat if you want to upgrade while your at it or you could go around to junk yards and get one off another car and replace yours with it. Do the work yourself it's not difficult and it will save you some money. The things you are talking about that look like spark plugs are called o2 sensors.
what do you mean when you say "hi flow cat", does it mean that i can get one like that and is gonna cost me less money, what about the o2 sensors, i dont know what to do!!!! where can i find those "hi flow cats", please tell me exactly what to do!!
thanks

high not hi. It's a performance catalytic converter, it gives you a few more horse power than the stock catalytic converter does. It would probably cost more than a stock catalytic converter would run you. What do you need to know about the o2 sensors? Are you sure what is actually wrong. Are the o2 sensors broken and need replaced or is it the catalytic converter that isn't working properly?
you can find a universal cat online for a good price, dont get an "ebay high-flow cat", because they are actaully test pipes and do nothing for emissions. Replace the cat, and if you still get a CEL, then replace the sensors. Or the other way around.
lol It's probably the o2 sensors then, the stealership is probably just trying to get as much money out of you as possible. I can't be sure though. Go to an Autozone and have them check the code the cel is throwing and they will tell you how to fix it.
Flip, I wouldn't go with a universal cat if I were him. I think they have fitment issues and just make it a pain in the *** to install. If your going to get an aftermarket one then get one made specifically for your make, model, and year (generation).
