Port match of T/B & Intake Manifold

Port match of T/B & Intake Manifold
Just a question here....I currently have a 60mm Skunk 2 t/b installed with my factory intake manifold (I've got a 98 EX 5 spd). Picked up a Skunk 2 intake mani yesterday, plan on installing it this weekend. The Skunk 2 one has a 62mm plenum opening. I've read that if your t/b is smaller than your intake mani, you do not need to get them port-matched. Is this true?? If not, what kind of gains (if any) can I expect from having this done? Thanks.

I think Nails thinks it's the other way around. With the TB smaller, the port matching shouldn't do much, unless you want to get a 62mm TB, then the throttle response would kick.

RE: Port match of T/B & Intake Manifold
Well, I installed the intake mani yesterday, and I'm pretty pleased with the results....plus it looks really nice in the engine bay, and looks are what really matters, right?
Installed the throttle body about 2 weeks ago, and the intake manifold yesterday; that being the case, I won't be replacing either any time soon. But if I understand you right, my throttle response would be better if I my t/b was closer in diameter to the 62mm plenum opening on the manifold? My t/b's already 60mm, so would 2mm make that much of a difference?
