Default Problem after installing short ram intake

I just installed an AEM short ram intake on my '02 Civic LX. I followed the directions perfectly. The only flaw was that the wire for the AIT sensor did not reach the hole of the intake pipe so its only halfway in. So I took it for a test ride on the Vegas strip. My Civic basically took off on its own and almost gave me a heart attack. Then I had a had time breaking as if the gas just keeps going. On my way back home I noticed the engine giving a puttering sound as if the engine is trying to turn which it did once. Made it home and now the engine light is on. Not sure what I did wrong. If I take it to a shop, I'll get the speech about how I should have gotten it professionally installed. Any suggestions?

yea extend the wires for your AIT and plug it in like it is supposed to go. That is why you are having all your problems.

Ok so if the wires are too short, then can I buy another set or do have to rigg it some kind of way?

I extended the AIT cable and the problem is still there. I retraced my steps and tightened up all the clamps to ensure there are no air leaks. I got the Civic to run decently, but the engine light is on. It will probably reset itself after 3 - 4 cycles. No noticeable HP increase, but at least I should have better fuel efficiency.
