Default SRI or dropin

I did a quick search and didnt really find what I was looking for. I was considering getting a SRI but I heard it dosent help that much on its own, so I thought about just gettin a K&N drop in filter. My car is a stock daily driver, (2000 ex coupe) and right now I dont have plans for an exhaust or headers. I figured $120 or so for an AEM sri compared to $45 for the filter, or should I just keep the stock paper ones? Opinons please.

the stock airbox would be a lot more restrictive. an sri would take care of that.

a AEM sri runs for like about 95 bucks with a dry flow filter .... it helps but it doesnt give you 15+ hp lol maybe like 5 and makes your motor sound like a beast

he doesnt know what 5HP is....

but ya i would go with the SRI. go with the good stuff now that way you dont have to throw away the cheaper parts later when you replace them.

but the SRI or CAI will sound great factory air box is to crappy...

people think for whatever reason improve air flow from a filter won't give you gains, but it does. If my nitro r/c cars run better and faster with an improved air filter system over the stock(choke your engine) filter it's the same with a real car. Both run on engines with similar setups.

Thanks for the advice guys, I picked up the AEM at advanced auto sat for 98 bucks (in stock). Super easy to install, but I did notice that the filter hits the old plastic piece where the air comes up so I trimmed it down. It sounds nice and when I get on it I can hear the vtec kick in a little. Nothing compared to my buddy's rsx-s tho, but highly reccomended. Maybe a slight increase in acceleration if any at all. Im happy it is my 1st performance mod.
